There are two broad types of training available to small businesses: on-the-job and off-the-job techniques. Individual circumstances and the “who,” “what” and “why” of your training program are determine which method to use. There are various methods of training, which can be divided in to cognitive and behavioral methods. Trainers need to understand the pros and cons of each method, also its impact on trainees keeping their background and skills in mind before giving training. How apprenticeships might be structured and what skills and content should be included in this training in future. The Project will report on:
- The expanded skills and knowledge which are required
- Training options available to develop these skills and learnings
- Current gaps in the training package and how these might be addressed;
- Whether existing apprenticeship classification should be altered given changing skill requirements and, if so, how.
